James and I have been looking forward to our trip for Maine
for a long time. It was Mother's Day
when we confirmed that I should start planning my next lighthouse trip. September seemed to be the best time of year
- they are still running boats for lighthouse trips, and the weather is beautiful.
On the way up we stopped in Connecticut and met up with a
friend who James went to school with as he was working on his PhD. There was a lot of discussion about their colleagues
and which ones had received tenured teaching positions. I am glad that James has a steady job where
there isn't the ongoing stress to publish and secure a position.
The first lighthouse we saw on our trip was called Ladies
Delight on Lake Cobboseecontee. There
isn't a good viewing location from land, but James was patient as I scouted out
viewing locations from private property.
