The Christmas Spirit
The spirit of Christ means a lot of things. Today I was thinking a lot about the anticipation of a new baby and the joy it brings. Mary may not have taken a pregnancy test or had an ultrasound, but she was visited by a holy messenger. The angel Gabriel told her she was pregnant and that it would be a boy, the Son of the Highest, whose kingdom would have no end. Even so, Mary still had to see her son suffer and die. The scriptures say how Mary was highly favored, and blessed among women. We don't know all the sorrow she experienced, but I'm sure it was not limited to the death of her son.
Earlier this year James and I were expecting to have a new baby around the end of December. It's hard coming to this time of year knowing that there is no baby for us at this time. I don't know what Heavenly Father has in store for our family, but I am grateful for the miracles in my life and the lives of those around me. The sorrows we experience in this life can be temporary. I hope that I can be better at recognizing the gifts that Christ has made possible for me. I love this time of year. I am so grateful for the sacrifice of my Savior Jesus Christ. Through His atonement, we will live again. I am so grateful for the spirit of Christ and much joy in my life.
